Over the last several years the amount of killer baby and toddler clothing to hit the scene has exploded.  Gone are the days where our kids are forced to dress in little sailor suits, unless of course, you’re into that sort of thing which is totally fine you know.  Hey, whatever floats your boat *snicker*.  So why ModesTod, do we really need another line of cool baby shirts?  Short answer:  maybe, maybe not.  But like those other designers, we had some ideas just burning a hole in our brains and can’t everyone stand to have one more great shirt in their collection? 

ModesTod is a mom and pop creation from the designs to the printing.  We’re a very musical house, which is reflected in the majority of our designs (along with a positive message here and there thrown in for good measure).  Pop spent many years as lead singer and guitarist in promising local bands you probably never heard of while mom shares the same love of music but is unfortunately very tone-def.  This doesn’t stop her from singing and dancing throughout the day.  Our musical genes have inevitably been passed down to our first and only born.  By age two, he’s made it clear he’s a born solo artist and we’re hoping this is one area his paternal genes beat the maternal into submission. 

Even though we like our designs with heavy doses of rock and edge, it was getting hard to ignore the fact that even when raised with minimal exposure, our child likes the cute little animals, tractors and all those pastel colors we’ve been trying to avoid.  Our son prefers his clothing to reflect those interests and we thought yours may too.   Since we can’t bring ourselves to release total control over clothing selection, ModesTod is our compromise.  ModesTod is about designs modern parents like but kids like better.  The world is a slightly happier place when parents and children can both agree on a wardrobe. 

We know we can’t change the world strictly through a t-shirt, but we do hope to help encourage kids be themselves even if it involves all those things that make parents groan.  Be wild, be crazy, get dirty…be a kid.  Shirts are just the beginning, with all great ideas; this is just the first small step.   In the meantime kids, TURN IT UP. 

About the clothing 

Each shirt gets individual love and attention from a boy and his machine right here in our home in the USA .  Graphics are directly printed into the garment with no transfers for a super soft feel which provides movement with the garment, not a slapped on look.  We think you’ll love it.
